Folk club gearing up for top name battle - Gazette
Formed in 1969, the Battlefield Band have been at the forefront of Scottish and Irish music since then, selling out venues all over the world.
The band's line-up has changed many times over the years with the finest of musicians such as Alan Reid, Brian McNeil, John McCusk-er, Karine Polwart and Davy Steele having been in the ranks.
It is perhaps this evolving of the band which has kept a constant freshness to their music and globally won them thousands of fans.
The current line-up is, as usual, multi instrumental and consists of Scan O'Donnell, Alasdair White, Mike Katz and new member Ewen Henderson.
Expect to hear the driving force of twin pipers, twin fiddles, guitars, bouzoukis and much more.
Peter Nardini released his first album 'A Think You're Great' in 1982, a collection mainly of songs written for Radio Scotland's satirical/topical series 'Naked Radio'.
Three further albums have followed in a humorous, satirical and also serious style with well known songs such as 'A Kiss From Wishaw Cross' and 'Uncle Joe and the Angels.
Over the years he has performed with various well known performers including Loudon Wainwright, Billy Bragg, Paul Brady, Alan Price and Tom Robinson.
As well as being a musician, Peter is a well sought after artist, so it is worthwhile checking out his website.
Tickets priced £12 (£10 members) for this exciting concert are on sale at Atkinson Pryce Books in Biggar High Street. The concert is at Biggar Municipal Hall on Saturday March 26 and doors will be open at 7.15pm for an 8pm start.
