Tom wins the 2007 David Roberts Award
2007 David Roberts Award Winner
...Tom Gold
This is an award in memory of David Roberts, a great supporter of traditional music and member of Clydesdale Folk Club, who died suddenly in 2005. The David Roberts Memorial Plate is awarded annually to a promising young traditional musician from South Lanarkshire (under 16). This year the award will go to fiddler Tom Gold from Douglas. Tom is doing really well for himself. He won the prestigious Musselburgh Festival Band Competition in 2006 as well participating in a challenging nine-day tour of Northern Germany and performing to a full "Ceilidh Tent" at T in the Park. His future career looks a certainty.
Aileen Campbell MSP had the honour of presenting the award at this years BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of Year 2008 semi-finals at Coulter Hall, sponsored by Clydesdale Folk Club.
